The obstacle course- the kids had to climb the rock wall, slide down the slide, jump over the quick sand (beach towels), slide down the slip-n-slide, walk the plank and grab a water balloon and they had to repeat the course holding the water balloon without popping it and put it in their laundry basket. The kids were so tired after doing it!

BroganLast year for Peytons bday we invited some boys and took all of them bowling. When I asked Peyton what he wanted to do this year, I was keeping my fingers crossed that he would want to do that again. But no such luck. He wanted to have a pirate party, complete with a slip-n-slide and a treasure hunt. So I groaned internally and put on a happy face and started planning his party. Now, I love having party's don't get me wrong, I love hosting and having people over, but Peyton's birthday falls on a terrible time of the year. It is fair and rodeo season, school is starting, and volleyball is beginning also. So August is a crazy month. Luckily, this year his bday didn't fall on the week of fair, so that was really nice. Anyways, he wanted to invite 13 kids both boys and girls. We had it outside and Tyler and I were dying...it was sooo hot. But I think that the kids had fun. We had an obstacle course with water balloons (cannon balls) and we had a treasure hunt with pirate loot. We had a pinata which was poorly constructed and the fourth kid in line (Brogan), ended up smashing it. So there were 9 heartbroken kids because they didn't get to whack the pinata (oops!). Anyways, the kids were great and Peyton loved the party. I will have to take a year off next year and do something simple, so in two years I will be ready for another one!

I can see why McKade came home tired. :D He was so excited to go to Peyton's party. He had that present sitting on the hope chest for a week...... just waiting.
I was so happy to see some pictures on your blog. I was wanting to come to the party and get some pictures of the kids playing together.
I looks like such a fun party -- loved the picture of the whole gang. The plank looked like lots of fun -- such a great idea. And I think you did a fabulous job on that cake. What on earth will you do next year to top that one?
