THIS was EXACTLY what I needed today:
Author Anna Quindlen, in her book Loud and Clear, said, "The biggest mistake I made [as a mother] is the one that most of us make. ... I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of [my children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4, and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in a hurry to get on to the next things: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.

Visiting Robbie

So a whole group of us girls (8 of us to be exact) decided to go and visit Robbie in SLC. We feel so helpless up here and we wanted to feel like we were doing SOMTHING, to help her. So we planned a trip to go down and take Robbie out to dinner (Cafe Rio). I wasn't sure how she was going to like being around us. I know that when you are stressed about your kid then there isn't much that can take your mind off that. But we had a great night! There was a lot of laughter and tears, but it was so great. Robbie is an AMAZING person and even when she is at her lowest, she can still pick you up when you are around her. We didn't get home until about 2 in the morning and I had a Ward Harvest dinner the next day, but it was totally worth the sleep deprivation! Thanks girls for a great night!
Little Lolly (Lauren)

Our friend, Robbie's little girl has been through so much these last couple of weeks. She was first diagnosed with E Coli and then had to be life-flighted down to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. She has been so sick since then with Hemolytic Uremic Syndrom caused by E Coli. She has her good days and she has her bad days. Last week was super scary but she pulled through. She still isn't getting any better, but thankfully she is not getting worse either. My kids have been worried about her and ask every day how Lolly is doing. Robbie and Ben have been through so much, but they never complain and they are such great examples. I hate to see Lolly going through all of these trials and I hate it as a parent, to see Ben and Robbie struggle with her. Everyone say a prayer for Lolly. If you want to keep track of her progress visit her blog: ourlittlelolly.blogspot.com.
Doll Clothes

Brynn is my most crafty kid. She loves to create things out of paper, fabric, ribbon, whatever. She has been loving her dolls and wanted to borrow some fabric to make some things for them. She cut them a bed with a blanket and even made them a bathtub out of paper. She also cut out some clothes for her dolls which I thought was pretty creative. She should have definately been my cousin, Leslie's kid. I don't have a crafty bone in my body but she certainly does. She does quite a good job with fabric and tape!
Wonderful Evenings

The evenings here have been great. I like to have dinner started and then go outside with my kids and just listen to them laughing, playing, and fighting (of course). The kids like to be outside when Dad comes home, so they can run to his truck before he even gets out. I love evenings like these and I am not looking forward to winter. I guess we will enjoy it while it lasts!
Peyton's School Open House

The second graders were able to sing at the school Open House. We watched Peyton sing and then we went to his classroom and met his teacher. We saw where he sat and got to rummage through his messy desk and grab his AR book and spelling list he forgot! Peyton is loving school this year and especially loves his teacher, Mrs. Anderson. His reading is great and he is doing great on all of his test. This year seems so much easier than last year as far as getting him to sit down and do his homework. We finally figured out a system that works and we are so proud of him!
