Oahu was our first trip on our Hawaiian vacation. We stayed at a house called "Back to Eden." The first night we arrived was about 2 in the morning Hawaii time and about 6 o'clock in the morning our time. So we were TIRED. We get there and the people who own the house live right next door and they had left the windows and doors open for us to cool the house since no one in Hawaii have air conditioning. We pull into the garage and take our stuff upstairs and as we are all walking into our rooms we hear various screams throughout the house (one of them was mine). There were gigantic-sized cockroaches crawling on our walls and all over the floors. So the girls of course freak out and we run downstairs. We find out that there was a hole in a screen upstairs so the unwelcome guests found a way to invade our space. I immediately began looking for another place to stay, refusing to stay there. The boys all grab brooms and start hunting the insects. We hear crashes and bangs throughout the upstairs as well as occasional squeals and giggles. With it being so late at night and we were far from the nearest hotel room, we decided to stay there. The boys felt they had killed all of them and I was too mad to get a picture of the pile of dead cockroaches. So needless to say I slept with one eye open. Ty and I were also on a twin sized bed so that was a lot of fun too! Anyways, after a not-so-good nights sleep we woke up and were able to see for the first time our surroundings and it was BEAUTIFUL! We were in the middle of a forest with mountains surrounding us. It was seriously so amazing. No picture could capture the beauty that was around us. We were very happy we stayed there. The couple who owned the house were very nice and told us of places to make sure we went and seen. We were only going to be on Oahu a couple of days so we packed as much in as we could.
We went to the Polynesian Culture Center the first day and drove around the Island. The boys found a place to snorkel while we layed out on the beach. We ate at a restaurant that was situated in the mountains that night and got some groceries and headed home.
